Equality North East promotes equality issues to employers and employees of small and medium sized enterprises. We have worked with the company since its inception in 2000. Since 2000 we have created and managed the website that has become renowned for providing an excellent library of information on equality issues.
The challenge was to create an accessible website with a large amount of information and an opportunity for people and companies to assess their rights in certain situations. This facility is supported by a signposting service to find out further information.
The technical challenge involved the development of a database from scratch, that could be updated on a daily basis and that drives the content for the website. This was initially developed using Active Server Pages but in 2001 redeveloped using PHP and a MySQL database.
Equality North East is now a regional benchmark on the provision of equality information and shares links with a number of high profile portals.
The website was completely re-designed and re-built in August 2007.
